    Client Challenge

Installation of 14 NPS 6 HDPE electrical conduits under the Bow River to supply power to the South Calgary Health Campus. Right of way was in close proximity to storm ponds and power lines.

    Entec’s Solution

Entec provided route evaluation, geotechnical investigation, feasibility analysis, detailed design, contract preparation, tendering and construction support. Detailed design included design of the drill path, and thermal grouting. The goal of the project was to identify technically feasible solutions to crossing a major river and source of drinking water while meeting the needs of a new, state of the art hospital.

    Results & Client Benefit

HDD was utilized to drill a very small radius of curvature and allow for ease of conduit pull back under the river. The process minimized environmental disruption and allowed for existing road ways to be left open.
